My Upside Down Batter (Apple)

1/2 C Butter
1 C sugar
2 eggs
2 tbs vanilla
3 cups flour
2 tsp salt
1 C milk
6-8 peeled and cored apples, sliced
1 C Sugar
4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 to 1 stick butter

Cream butter and sugar, add eggs and cream until fluffy. Add vanilla, flour, salt, milk. Set aside.

Butter bottom of 8" square pan. Set cake mix in pan. Place apple slices close together in row over cake mixture. Then sprinkle cinnamon and sugar over the apples. Dot with butter and bake.

Bake in oven at 325 for 45 minutes or until done.

Cool and serve plain or with whipped cream or ice cream
